Review // Wet n Wild Fergie Highlighter Hollywood Boulevard

By Chaste & Beautiful - Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Hiya,

Long time, no see and that’s because I was so busy. It rhymes! Believe you me, I was getting desperate to get on my blog but due to much work pressure, I had to sit tight and wait for the right moment and finally tonight, I did manage to pull out some hours for blogging about this gorgeous looking highlighter. The Wet n Wild Fergie Highlighter Hollywood Boulevard is quite famous; more so because of Kathleen Lights and the girls following Kathleen know what I’m talking about. That girl is insane when it comes to makeup.

When I saw her recommending it, I instantly fell in love with it. The design of gold, pink, and brown shimmering lines and then the huge size was enough to tempt me. I searched it online in Pakistani stores and came across one that was selling it on a discount because the lid was broken, still the baked product inside was intact. I grabbed it quickly, since many girls were after it, I know, I know! The hurry was due to the oncoming marriage ceremony as well, as I previously owned no highlighter and was in dire need of one anyway. Now, let’s get down to the autopsy report.

Full Name, Price and Purchase

I bought this Wet n Wild Fergie Highlighter Hollywood Boulevard for only PKR: 800 from a Facebook page Amor. As I’ve mentioned, the lid was broken and repaired with scotch tape, I was able to purchase it at such a low price tag, which is indeed luck.

Packaging

It is a black plastic square palette with rounded edges; the lid is of clear plastic though. A very ordinary looking container but the baked highlighter inside is a beauty to look at. The weight is 11.3 grams and that’s a big pro.

Formula/Texture

The formula of this highlighter is said to be the dupe of Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter and if you compare them, you’ll find that the golden color of both these highlighters is similar. That’s one reason of its hype. It is very soft and smooth to the touch with high pigmentation level. The golden shimmer is really beautiful as you can see in the pictures.

My Thoughts

Although, this highlighter is instant love and without any doubt a splendor in its own right, I didn’t honestly find it so impressive. I’ve used it often ever since my procurement but I felt that every time I put it on, it accentuated my pores. That is also clearly visible in the pictures I took during the wedding ceremony I attended of my cousin and in the picture here of my hand. Then another con is the longevity period. It hardly stay put for 2 or maybe 3 hours and then it was gone. I thought my skin required retouching after every 2 hours or so.

The pigmentation looks vivid and strong as long as it is swatched on the fingers and hands. However, it took a lot of product to acquire a decent glow, when I applied it on my face and that even wasn’t so satisfying. I mean I have seen girls wearing highlighters that leave an intense liquid glow on their cheek bones and nose, but this one failed to deliver such an effect, which was disappointing. Maybe the Becca one has more color pay-off, if you know do share your thoughts. Another thing is that considering this is my very first highlighter, I can’t compare it to any other I might have used previously.

Recommendation

I think it might be suitable for beginners as the price is very reasonable along with the product quantity, otherwise you should invest in a better one.

Would I Repurchase?

A definite and big NO! Whenever I buy a new one, I intend going after The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer, or some other brand.

I wanted to say this earlier too; the issue is that usually the hyped products aren’t that good as one hears the babbles about them. I don’t know it happens with me or to you also, but till now many products that no one even gives a damn about, come out to be really nice and the raved items simply turn out to be otherwise. Again it rhymed! I better sign off now. But seriously my eye-shadow Stand-Offish in The Balm NUDE tude palette offers a better shine on my face. Perhaps our expectations rise too. Never mind!
See you in the next post, which hopefully will be up soon. Adios!

  2. Actually u need to put highlighter just on the high point of your cheek bone, and keep it way off your cheeks. I'm sure you won't have the "pore problem," that u faced. Anything that highlights always accentuates pores. It all depends on placement. N as far as I remember you have a facial structure that does not require highlighting on the porous areas of your cheeks. Rest, I m sure you are right cz i have never tried this stuff:)

    1. Dear, I know where to apply the highlighter that is on the high points perhaps you took it wrong as I wrote cheeks and face in my post. All highlighters don't accentuate the pores. However, this one does. Thank you for your input. :)

  3. It's really bad that it could not fulfill your expectations. I haven't used it so cant say anything. If you get a chance then get Mary Lou. Trust me you will love it. It's kinda pricy but a little goes a long way. And it has become my staple product.

  5. That is a shame that it didn´t live up to your expectations. Maybe it works better on very light skin tones?

  6. Nice and honest review.I was planning to buy this one instead of the balm Mary Lou Manizer.but i guess this one is not a product for me as the staying power is not so well.previously i was using ELF highlighter in 'pinktastic'.That was good and the staying power was more than 2 hours with no chalky effect:)

  12. Great review with lovely pics, fun to read and watch. I myself am not a big fan of wet n wild products because of some past experiences and I really don't know why Kathleen Lights keeps on buying this brand when she can pretty much afford anything from other brands too. Hard luck for those like us, who have a limited budget when it comes to the buying of makeup. I only give credit to the beautiful shade and pattern this highlighter has. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  15. This looks like a beautiful highlighter! I actually prefer some subtle glow but I'm also aware that some highlighters accentuate pores so I don't think I'd like this one neither. x

  18. Hmm, I've debated if I need this one, but seeing how similar the shade is to Becca Champagne Pop, I think I'm going to give this highlighter a pass. This kind of shade wouldn't look that flattering on my skin tone.

p/s theBalm Mary-Lou is the bomb.com!! buy it! hehe :D
