So,
dearies, here I am with the promised post of the wedding ceremony I attended on
10 and 11 April of my lovely cousin who was looking stunning in her heavily
embellished bridal dress of lenghas on both the Barat (wedding ceremony) and
Walima (day after wedding ceremony.) One picture of her henna clad hands is
here. I also must include, I am right now so exhausted yet over-thrilled by the
beauty of the entire ceremony that I wanted to put up this post before sleeping
and now, it’s exactly 5:00 am and just a few hours earlier, I returned home
from the Walima formality.
Thank
God, the weather became a bit pleasant, the heat wave disappearing for some
time, perhaps for us and many others busy attending wedding services. As I was
on my way to the wedding hall, I saw many beautifully decorated cars, which
gave me an idea that weddings are in full swing these days, since everyone is
hurrying off to get married before the commencement of intense heat. I’m not
going to go into details about the Mehndi Rasam (Henna Ritual) because it was a
pretty much simple and casual homely affair. Let me begin with the wedding day
first.
The Wedding Day
The
wedding was to take place in a beautiful marriage hall at about 7:30 pm and I
had oiled my hair the previous night, so the next day I got a bit late in
bathing and everything. The same night I had prepped myself up by going through
special skincare routine, following it up with manicure and pedicure. Hence, I
had woken up late and the rest delay was caused by shower. I had planned to
have my hair and makeup done by Saadiah Khawaja but then postponed it due to
shortage of time and some other unexpected occurrences. Therefore, I started by
ironing my hair and setting it with Nova Hair Spray.
The
big task had fallen on my shoulders and I literally rushed through every step.
I wore the green dress and golden sandals here, and with that I sported these
ear-studs. You can also see my hand-cuff here, but unfortunately can’t show you
my makeup. However, I can assure you it was good because everyone kept on
praising me. Ahem! This is the Avon perfume and Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in
combination with Maybelline Fit Me. I also used ColourPop Lippie Stix in Brink,
Wet n Wild Highlighter, Kryolan foundation stick as concealer, Luminous Skincare
Rose Toner, Essence and NYX blushes, Maybelline Great Lash mascara, Ultra
Flawless eyeshades by Makeup Revolution and The Balm Nudetude Palette, Essence
eyeliner, and Flormar Pretty Nail Polish, shade P15 Light Salmon.
Wedding
ceremony itself was gorgeous. I believe the most beautiful part is meeting all
the cousins and other family members, especially if you get along well. The
bride wore green and red dress and the hall was also decorated in similar
theme. My cousins are really nice girls and gave me good company, even the
bride too. The food was good but I don’t know why I can never eat much on
functions and when I come back home, I feel hungry all over again. We returned
home almost by 11:00 pm and then after seeing the makeup of my cousins, I decided
firmly to get it done by Saadiah for the Walima Ceremony.
The Walima Ceremony
The
day was going on smoothly, everything was planned. Dear Saadiah picked me up
from my home but it all happened late again and everything had to be rushed,
still Saadiah Khawaja did an amazing job and honestly, I have never ever and I
mean NEVER loved my eyes before, and
after the makeup done by Saadiah, I just kept on looking in the mirror.
She not only made my eyes look bigger but also curled my hair very nicely. If
you want to see the makeup look she created, head over to her blog,” BeautyTalk with Saadiah.”I wore a blue dress on Walima as you can see in the picture
and in all the haphazard, simply forgot to wear ear-studs because my brother
was screaming, since we were getting late, yet everybody loved my makeup,
dress, hair, and everything else. I felt really good and more confident and
from now on I’ll InshaAllah always take help of Saadiah, whenever such an
occasion arises.
After
lots of prayers to reach the marriage hall on time, as it turned out, we were
the first to enter the hall from the bride’s side and I am now looking for my
brother to pull his ears out, but he’s asleep. Anyway, I won’t let him get away
with his horrendous behavior; otherwise I might have gotten more time to get
ready properly to my satisfaction. Even Saadiah had to hurry to get me ready on
time. Then she dropped me off too back at my home. I can never thank her enough
because it was her, who made my day. This time my sandals were black, and you
can see in the picture the ring-set I am wearing.
The
Walima was a much more glitzy affair. The hall was impressively decorated in
pink and peach because that was the bride’s dress color too. This is a new
trend I got to observe in this wedding and I love it. Music was rather too loud
and we had to shout to get heard, still nothing made sense. Anyway, I took a
lot of pictures, made movies, ate the delicious food and overall had a great
time. I already want some other cousin of mine to get married now. The weddings
are so glorious really! After the Walima, we went off to visit my khala
(maternal aunt) and returned home at around 12:30 am.
An Insider
The
heavenly occasion is over but has left behind delightful memories for all of us
to cherish. I wish my cousin best of luck and lots of blessings on her new
life. So gals, enjoy the post and I do hope it makes you feel how beautiful
this entire event was. Before signing off, let me share with you an insider. The
perfume I bought from daraz.pk is in reality for men and they have mentioned it
on their website, “For Women” and for these 3 days I had to wear gents’
perfume! When I opened its packaging and smelled it, I kinda felt it very
strong and over-powering and my mom had similar thoughts as well. After checking
it thoroughly with her glasses perched on her nose, my mom exclaimed,” Oye!
This is for “Him,” it is written here.” Duh!!!
Till
next time Ciao! Stay blessed and happy.

ReplyDeletehahaha, yes but my brother did behave like a villain and he deserves this status for the time being because after i arrived home, he kept harassing me to the point that i forgot applying mascara and wearing my earrings, lol. I loved everything you did on me and I thank you for everything you've done for me. Without you, I wouldn't have looked fit for a wedding and yes next time, I will not say anything. :)
