Review // Essence Glossy Stick Lip Colour “Luminous Rosewood!"

By Chaste & Beautiful - Sunday, August 21, 2016

Hiya Everybody,

With Essence, I have experienced all kinds of highs and lows but I must commend Essence for their good quality mascaras and lip liners. This is a fairly new product by Essence and I want to quickly come to the nitty-gritty of this product, I am not going into details here.

Price, Purchase and Packaging

My main attraction of this product was its affordable price and it only cost me PKR 335. I bought it from daraz.pk. Well, the packaging really deceives you that the pencil is twistable but unfortunately, it’s sharpen-able and I hate that because almost half of the tip settles onto the metal area of the sharpener. Overall, the packaging is nice but the twist factor would have made it even more covetable.

Quality and Quantity

The product comes in a 2.0g fat pencil and in terms of quality, the pigmentation of the pencil is good and buildable but there is nothing very impressive about it. Honestly, Essence lip liners are ten times better than this product and seem to have more purpose as well.

My Thoughts

First of all, I like the way this product easily glides onto my lips and the tip ensures a neat line. I also like the way I can increase the pigmentation level by swiping the product many times on my lips but it is a very obvious sheer lip product and sheer is a no-no for me in this pathetic-ish summer weather.

I purchased the shade “03 Luminous Rosewood” as it was the prettiest one in the entire range and it was quite light in the beginning but looks good on my complexion once intensified. However, there are total 5 shades in this range and I do not like the shade selection, as it is more aimed towards fair beauties.

Luckily, the texture of this lip color doesn’t settle into my lip lines but the longevity is poor, you have to be careful with eating and drinking, or else the color will vanish within 1 hour. This product does not have any distinguishable scent.

Overall, I think it is a fine product and I quite like it. I would get more use out of it in the wintertime because for light airy days, you would fancy putting this pretty color on. Also, don’t be misled by my swatch, as I swiped the product many a times to get that kind of “strong finish.”

                                                                  SWATCH

Recommendation

This product is particularly for youngsters because it’s quick to use, apply and remove, plus budget-friendly as well.

Would I Repurchase?

Nope, because I don’t like sharpening pencils, especially fat ones that dispense half of the product onto the sharpeners.

  2. Though it is aimed at more fair tones, I have to say it is such a divine colour! I get annoyed at sharpened products too but if it's good, then I'll probably keep using it <3

  6. Essence makes blunders regularly, one on top of another! This one certainly looks crumbly, and no wonder you're disappointed. My sincere advice would be to stay away from Essence and invest in Maybelline and Bourjois.
