Hiya,
Yesterday,
my khalas (maternal-aunts) were over at my place and there was a discussion on
makeup, naturally. My khalas are into beauty related issues too, quite keenly
as a matter of fact, but there’s always a clash on the budget. They openly tell
me that I’m a spendthrift regarding makeup items and after hearing about my
latest splurges, they advised on the productivity of spending money on clothes,
rather than cosmetics. I believe many of the beauty bloggers face similar
issues, and then the guilt gushes overspill our minds. Don’t they?
I
wanted to share my feelings and thoughts on this matter. Also, there should be
some other beauty topics too, apart from reviews, (wink). Once, I received a
huge counseling from my phuppo (paternal-aunts) as well. The problem lies in
our nature I believe. We girls never get so much excited over other necessities
and wants as much, as on makeup products. Truly speaking from my heart, I
simply adore makeup and I know you do too.
Some Responses to the Guilt Gushes
As
for the guilt part or as properly put by our elders, “fazool cheezain” (waste,
rubbish); if humbly said, we cannot ignore makeup as long as we are girls, and
we are girls, you can’t change our nature. That is inbred, we inherit it and we
are born this way. There are various kinds of girls, but they all do have some
sort of obsession. It might be clothes, shoes, books, jewelry, or like us,
makeup. Why makeup is called useless when that is the thing which improves our
looks? What’s the point in wearing new clothes every day when your skin and hair
isn’t looking as attractive too?
I
really don’t want to feel as if I am trying to justify my own craze. I am
merely endeavoring to make all understand my love for makeup. It is there, useless
or useful, expensive or not! Plus, every girl, or at least I do try to remain
in the budget, so as not to overstress my elders because of it. Thank goodness,
my mom shares my opinions and supports me, even my brothers have by now, given
in to my passion and have bunged rebuking me. Moreover, I believe I have achieved
a lot through it.
The Preliminary Phases
I
still remember when I started blogging; my mom didn’t know anything about
blogging, especially beauty blogging and expressed her surprise along with a
bit of remorse. She asked me to write on something different, like everyday
life issues, etc. She actually had no concept of the beauty marketing, blogging
and the rage of females over it, and for that matter even I didn’t. My first
inspiration emerged from Sarah Hassan’s Blog and when I showed it my mom, she
was spell-bound. Still, some apprehensions were present.
The Current Outcomes
Now,
it has all changed, she is the strongest supporter of this craze of mine and I
have gained confidence, writing skills, photography talents, inter-action with
like-minded people, and a lot more. I have also learnt self-grooming, which is
extremely important and I feel I have grown wiser (chuckle). My infatuation has
taken me towards earning professionally and that is an asset to be proud of. It
all depends on the choices we make in our lives. Look at Bobbi Brown, Coco
Chanel, Lisa Eldridge, Huda Beauty, just to name a few. To sum it all up my
only words are, “Makeup, I love you.”
Hey, I would love to see your
opinions too. Do leave a comment if you come across this post. Bye

DeleteI loved your post. So true. Same goes with my family & relatives. My brother was literally shocked when I told him that I packed 52 shades of lipstick for our 2 months vacys. And I told him what if I feel like wearing any of these? A tone darker, lighter, different undertones & bla.
ReplyDeleteNo body understands our love for makeup so lets just not pay attention & BUY MORE MAKEUP! Since it makes me really happy

That part about packing 52 lipsticks and so on is really humorous. Boys particularly won't understand our infatuation with makeup but gotta stay strong. Thanks for leaving such a beautiful comment.

Yes, Sara Hassan was one talented blogger and I personally learned a lot from her, too bad she isn't active anymore. Of course, we should be doing things that make us feel sated. Thank you for stopping by lovely. :)
DeleteI think beauty blogging is a difficult concept to grasp for a lot of people! I still have a hard time sometimes explaining to people what it is I do exactly and why I do it.
ReplyDeleteTrue that! Explaining to people what actually beauty bloggers are, kind of gets at me sometimes. Thanks for stopping by. :)

DeleteLoved this post! Yes, we should talk about such issues rather than just showing the world what we got and how it worked for us. I am not a fan of makeup. In fact, I never wore makeup before my wedding. Still, I try to avoid it. I feel great in my natural color and everything, but as I am aging and the way world is advancing (don't mean internet and snapchat, I mean contouring and baking :P ) its the need of the day. I believe if you love it, you should do it and its even great that you know your boundaries, you stay in your budget and there is nothing like it.
