Nicka K True Matte Liquid Lipstick – A Budget Steal?

By Chaste & Beautiful - Saturday, March 04, 2017

Hello everyone,

We’re finally sauntering towards a change in weather and I am already hating the thought of impending scorching heat that will loom ahead after spring goes by. This is a good excuse to hoard up on some liquid lipsticks, since, they’re the only things I can manage to tolerate on my lips in the summertime. Nonetheless, I’ll be weighing the pros and cons of the Nicka K True Matte Liquid Lipstick – which has been sitting in my stash for quite a while.

I read somewhere that Nicka K liquid lipsticks were the best dupes of Kylie Lip Kits, (which was initially the main reason I went for this product.) Now, I haven’t tried the Kylie lippies and neither have I searched for shade similarities, so I can’t comment on this finding of mine but if you have liquid lipsticks from both of these brands, let me know if you came upon any similarities.

Price & Packaging

I purchased this product from Daraz.pk for 550 PKR. It comes in a simple transparent tube with a doe foot applicator. I like the packaging, though there is nothing fancy about it but I find it attractive. The applicator is pretty good at lining the lips and carries enough product to cover your entire lips without dipping repeatedly. It is travel-friendly and the product will last you a long time.

Texture & Consistency

When I applied this liquid lipstick for the first time, I was really surprised with the results. It is definitely a medium consistency and spreads like a dream. The texture gives you plenty of while and control to fully coat your lips, after 1-2 minutes, it sets into a perfect matte pout. It doesn’t sting or tingle at all and succeeds in providing the lips a very beautiful plumping effect. I felt that it’s great for those with thin lips since it “brings into line” the appearance of upper and lower lip remarkably well.

Shade & Scent

Ah, the best part! I must admit that I was quite intimidated with my choice but the moment I laced my lips with this product, I fell completely head over heels in love with the color. “NTM11 Cocoa Bean” is a totally un-xenophobic shade “winks” when it comes to complementing diverse skin tones. It is a brilliant russet shade with brown taking the upper hand, so whether you are porcelain skinned, gorgeously fair, or ravishingly black – this color will suit you more than you can ever imagine. As for the scent, it does remind me of a nasty smelling medicine but it’s not noticeable once you layer the product onto your lips.

My Thoughts

This liquid lipstick is marvelously pigmented and one swipe honestly gives a very opaque finish. You might need to edit your pout with tad more swipes but for me “one layer does the job.” Overtime, the color turns darker and browner, plus you can’t deny that it shouts Autumn in every way. Thankfully, it is transfer-proof, so it won’t creep down onto your chin or bleed but it does feel slightly tacky to me “more so when I apply a lip balm underneath or continually smack my lips together.” It stays intact beautifully through oily meals, plenty slugs of liquid refreshments and milky desserts.

It does fade nicely without leaving any weird patches or lip rings behind, though I’ve noticed it looks drier and tends to accentuate lip lines at the end of the day. But that isn’t a major bother for me because, by the end, nearly all matte lip products look bitty and seem to plead to be taken off. I don’t have anything bad to say about this product. I have developed a good companionship with this product over the last month and seeing the price tag, you really can’t go wrong.

Recommendation

This is a pure steal, get it from wherever you can!

Would I Repurchase?

Yes, I also have an eye on two other shades and I might grab them soon.
