Review // NYX Powder Blush in Apricot!

By Chaste & Beautiful - Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Hiya,

Another review, and this time it’s a powder blush. I know we girls love blushes a lot, even though it is not used as much as a lipstick perhaps. However, the colored compact powders make us drool over them. I haven’t bought many blushes in a long time and still thinking of purchasing some touted ones, like Luminoso and Happy Booster, maybe because, it gets really difficult to decide what to go for, when it comes to makeup shopping. The list is always endless, and funds always short (specifically for makeup), plus new products keep emerging at a pace that it gets difficult to stay shoulder to shoulder.

Anyhow, the blush with me today is no other than of NYX itself and I had high hopes from it because NYX has a good reputation in the cosmetics world. So, let’s begin the review and unearth the attributes of this petite powder blush.

Purchase, Pricing and Packaging

I bought NYX Powder Blush in the shade ‘Apricot’ from Daraz.pk for PKR: 800. That’s quite an amount to pay for a blush that weighs just 0.4 grams. Then the size of it is a huge disappointment too. It looks more like an eye-shadow container. The packaging is secure and travel-friendly but then these traits get over-shadowed by the tiny size of this plain looking plastic packaging that is black from underneath with a transparent lid on top. The size is small, and the blush brush does not fit in easily, as I feel I do not have the leisure to swirl my brush freely.

Shade, Scent and Surface

There’s absolutely no smell of this peachy, pink shade blush, which is good. It would feel smooth to the touch but it is chalky with a significant fall-out. The beautifully designed powder has some visible shimmering elements; however they don’t show once you apply it on your cheeks.

My Thoughts

I was expecting a nice quality blush from NYX with a decent functionality, but it is rather a regret now investing in such a low class product. Apart from fall-out, you’ll also experience only an hour or two of lasting power. Besides, one has to blend it like crazy to get a detectible effect and that too is not worthwhile, due to poor pigmentation. No doubt the color is gorgeous but the average application and short longevity period remain to be irritating hitches.

It does give off a beautiful natural hue once you get over the blending part after applying coats and coats of it. I also wonder what NYX had in mind when they designed such a diminutive blush with below average features and a price tag that fails to justify the purchase. I’ve tried Essence and MUR blushes, and those are much less priced but certainly of better characteristics than this disillusionment. I’ll give it a thumbs down, in addition to the rating of 2/5.

Recommendation

If you are willing to throw your money on an ordinary blush, do go ahead.

Would I Repurchase

No dear! I have before me much better options, so why not avail those.

    1. Yup, I love the color myself but building it up is seriously isn't my forte, so I avoid applying it mostly. Thanks for stopping by. :)

  6. OMG, seriously? I don't have this shade but I have Pinched, Mocha and Dusty Rose and they are some of my favourite drugstore powder blushers. Thank you for the heads up on this, will skip it. :-(

  7. AH that's so depressing. I've tried the NYX HD Blushes and the NYX Cream Blushes and they're some of the best from the drugstore. Definitely going to stay away from this one....

  8. What a shame that this one is not longlasting and I hate when a blush falls out. I haven't tried any NYX blushes but when I do, I will make sure I avoid this one.

  9. I agree, shade apricot didn't impress me much either. You need to literally break the upper layer with fingers to get desired amount of product on brush. The shade is gorgeous nonetheless.

    1. Yes, you are right, it does have a stiff crust that needs to be softened in order to pick the blush color, but nobody has the time to do that. It might get a bit better if I continue to use it. I love the shade and thanks for stopping by. :)

    1. Oh, that's quite an appalling statement because I've heard Nyx products are very good, though this one is a bummer. I have heard a lot about their lip creams and will try them soon. Thank you for stopping by and I love your insightful comments. :)
